My first module: Creating an academic blog

After learning about this module, I learned how to create my own blog for my ELT purposes. My class mates and I have discussed the reasons why an ELT blog can help us in my English classes, and we could to see and learn from each other's blogs during our group discussion, which was very useful

Through the discussions shown on Canvas, I could see a lot of shared ideas about a lot of ideas for the aim of using our ELT blogs for. When I have a look at the additional resources, especially the sample blog part, I could understand more and I was able to know how to create an ELT blog through reading and basing on several types of blogs created by many teachers and organizations that came from many countries for various different purposes. In my opinion, I think creating such a blog on Blogger is useful and easy to help my posts look nice and more attractive and I think using it in my English-teaching practical and educating purposes for my future teaching can make my lessons become more effective.

However, I am not so sure about using blogs in the English classes that I am teaching, mainly because my students are used to getting information from social media and texting apps like Facebook Messenger, Discord or Zalo, etc. Moreover, I will try making one for my future classes in the future to see how it works. I am also a newbie on such Blogger, so should you have any of more engaging applications or teaching resources, then please share in the comment section below.

That is all for my first week module, and I am eager to study in the next week 2 module, too. Thanks for reading!

  1. I agree with your wondering that most students prefer to get information for themselves on social media rather than through blogs.

  2. I also agree with you that using Blogger as a space to share ideas among teachers and students has gained less popularity now as they are more familiar with social media such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. However, if our blog is attractive, unique and useful enough, I think there will be our target participants to be engaged in our articles or discussions on Blogger.

  3. I agree with you that blog is quite weaker that other social media like facebook messenger or discord, but we can make use of it in some ways.
