The end of my ICT course :(

Image
Okay, so probably... this is my last post in this reflective blog. The ICT course has actually taught me many useful things, and I could learn many new platforms, methods or tools from my lecturer, Ms. Huong so as my nice and friendly classmates. Going through this online course has also been a very valuable learning experience. As an English lecturer, it has expanded my understanding of the many possibilities that exist for enhancing instruction through useful use of digital tools and resources.       After ICT course, we had a chance to complete our final project in group of three members. Our group includes Ms. Bich Hong, who is also my colleague, Ms. Huong Giang and me. All of my teammates are very hard-working, friendly and very supportive to each others so we could discuss as well as share our opinions about not only our final project but also any other things such as our daily teaching skills, teaching resources and so on. And as I can...

My last step of my journey ICT

Image
After the last module of my ICT course, I am able to enhance my teaching knowledge about applying technology in teaching language, so that my students will not get too bored with the lesson. In Module 6, I had a chance to try to design a flipped lesson plan for my class in my college. I planned a lesson which consists of 30 English majors. The lesson focuses on Cars and Driving, aiming to provide students with knowledge about car types, car parts, good and bad driving habits. Students get access to online platforms and complete assigned tasks before classroom time. During the lesson, they are engaged in the rest of the lecture and assignments. By the end of the lesson, students are expected to conduct a simulated job interview in the form of videos and submit them (after class) on Google classroom, which is the main tool for my flipped classroom that I use in my college. One period lasts for 2 hours, which is insufficient for organizing all activities in an eff...

Reflection 5: Project- based learning and Rubrics

Image
To me, c reating a rubric is like an illuminating process. As I have just study this module and had a try on this endeavor, I realized that a well-designed rubric serves as a roadmap, which helps guiding both students and teachers through the assessment process and providing clear criteria for success.      One of the most significant aspects of creating a rubric is the clearance and measurable learning outcomes. By clearly defining the desired objectives and expectations, the teachers can ensure that assessment criteria align with instructional goals and facilitate meaningful feedback for students. The process of creating a rubric has also highlighted the importance of establishing consistency and reliability in assessment practices. By establishing clear descriptors and benchmarks for each performance level, teachers can minimize subjectivity and ensure fairness in grading.       Moreover, I think a rubric can help pointing out the valu...

Lesson 4: A real powerful lesson plan!

Image
A little content... but precious value.      Although I did not attend the lesson due to my busy schedule. However, I through all the things I have learned indirectly through the content of the module on Canvas I've learned and I had a chance to learn about using CALL (Computer-assisted language learning) in writing and reading activities and to write a technology-enhanced lesson plan. I could still feel that I could catch up with my classmates! Ha ha ha ^^      Previously in my drawback, the lesson plans of mine were all just have been done with only the plan A, and luckily, I did not have any cases that I must count for the backup plan. However, through this lesson, I still should be more carefully with my next lesson plans.      As I have known,  In my lesson plan, I use a lot of class activities. Sometimes, I use a few online class games like Quizizz, Kahoot or Blooket for the warm-up activity and Padlet for the w...

Lesson 3: Skill building Websites for Oral/Aural Skills and Saving Bookmarks

Image
Hi there, it's me again, Damian!     So today (Mar 03rd, 2024), I have learn about skill building websites for Oral/ Aural skills and how to save bookmarks. And I thought that it was pretty useful for me. Generally speaking, I am kinda lazy to make something that needs to click and add too much. So I did not add much things in my Bookmark Bar 😅😅😅. But now, I think that laziness of mine must be solved. Ha ha ha. I have created some Bookmarks for me called Diigo. That's the only website or we can so called an extension to make Bookmarks to get to websites I want to choose to go to. I think ít pretty handy for me after all.     Besides, I have learned more about the Skill Building Websites to use for my Language Teaching Classes to be more convenient and more effective. I would love to try them in my next classes in my college!

My second module: A.B.C.D. Learning Objectives

Image
Hi guys, it's me again, I'm Duc, but you can call me Damian.      Today, I have just gone through the module 2: And today I've studied and understood about ABCD of Learning Objectives .      Here I will take note all four of what they stand for:       A stands for: Audience , who describes the learner is. For instance, the freshman, the sophomore, the low-level students with non-English major.      B stands for: Behavior , which are action, skill, competency, or learning that the audience (the learner) will accomplish as a result of our teaching/ class activity.       C stands for: Condition , which describes the circumstances under which the learning will occur. In other words, it describes required resources or materials the students would need to access when completing the task.      D stands for: Degree , the levels of mastery the students must demonstrate ...

My first module: Creating an academic blog

After learning about  this module, I learned how to create my own blog for my ELT purposes. My class mates and I have discussed the reasons why an ELT blog can help us in my English classes, and we could to see and learn from each other's blogs during our group discussion, which was very useful     Through  the discussions shown on Canvas, I could see a lot of shared ideas about a lot of ideas for the aim of using our ELT blogs for. When I have a look at the additional resources, especially the sample blog part, I could understand more and I was able to know how to create an ELT blog through reading and basing on several types of blogs created by many teachers and organizations that came from many countries for various different purposes. In my opinion , I think creating such a blog on Blogger is useful and easy to help my posts look nice and more attractive and I think using it in my English-teaching practical and educating purposes for my fu...
